Separation and Energy Use Performance of Material Recycling Systems
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper outlines current research on the performance of recycling processes and systems. Several aspects of performance are explored, including the separation performance and energy use of recycling processes. Descriptive terminology for separation performance is presented. The goal of this project is to develop a basic understanding of the factors affecting the separation and energy performance of recycling systems, with the eventual ambition of developing techniques for predictive analysis of these systems. These analysis techniques will allow us to evaluate the economic, ecological, and energy impact of recycling systems. This increased understanding will help guide the design of products and recycling systems.

Modeling and Design of Material Separation Systems with Applications to Recycling
Material separation technology is critical to the success of the material recycling industry. End-of-life products, post-consumer waste, industrial excess, or otherwise collected materials for reuse are typically mixed with other incompatible materials. These materials must be segregated using material separation processes. This thesis investigates the performance and design of material separat...
متن کاملEffect of recycling solid oxide fuel cell products on the performance of a SOFC-Gas turbine hybrid system
In this study, the effect of recycling fuel cell products on the performance of a solid oxide fuel cell and gas turbine (SOFC-GT) hybrid system was investigated. Three types of products recycling are considered: cathode products recycling (CPR), anode products recycling (APR), and both cathode and anode products recycling (BACPR). In the present work, operating temperature and limiting curre...
متن کاملUsing life cycle assessment for municipal solid waste management in Tehran Municipality Region 20
Background: Due to the lack of a proper waste management system, Tehran Municipality Region 20 is facing economic and environmental problems such as the high costs of a disposal system and source pollution. Life cycle assessment (LCA) is a method for collecting and evaluating the inputs, outputs, and potential environmental impacts of a product system throughout its life cycle. The current stud...
متن کاملAnalysis of Recycling Systems
This paper outlines past and future work on the topic of recycling systems. This project focuses on the performance of recycling systems from a range of perspectives. The recyclability of products, separation efficiencies for recycling processes and systems built from these processes, and economic factors contributing to the success of recycling enterprises are all considered. The goal of this ...
متن کاملEffective Factors in Municipal Solid Waste Minimization and Recovery by Making Use of Citizens' Participation; Case Study of a District in Tehran City
The purpose of this research is to quantify the potential of waste recycling in the form of participatory scenarios for separation from the source and to study the factors of minimization (reduction) of waste production in a district of Tehran. Amount of waste minimization was determined with considering a couple of citizens' participation scenarios. Source separation of valuable wastes includi...
